"Mih-Tutta-Hangkusch, a Mandan Village" - Lewis and Clark paved the way for future expeditions who brought with them adventurous and inquisitive artists such as Karl Bodmer. These early "explorer artists" painted many subjects that are now gone forever. Pictured here is a typical Mandan village, with water on two sides for defense.
